When applied topically, systemic absorption is possible in patients with damage to the mucous membrane and epithelium.

Detailed pharmacokinetic studies during use eye drops were not carried out.

Indications

- to relieve swelling and hyperemia of the conjunctiva caused by exposure to chemical and physical factors(smoke, wind, dust, chlorinated water, light, cosmetics, contact lenses), as well as those arising from allergic reactions, such as hay fever.

Contraindications

childhood up to 2 years;

increased sensitivity to the components of the drug.

WITH caution the drug should be used in patients with severe cardiovascular diseases (for example, coronary artery disease, arterial hypertension), pheochromocytoma, prostatic hyperplasia, hyperthyroidism, diabetes mellitus, porphyria, dry rhinitis, keratoconjunctivitis sicca, glaucoma and in patients receiving MAO inhibitors or other drugs that can increase blood pressure.

The use of the drug for angle-closure glaucoma is contraindicated. For other types of glaucoma, the drug is used with extreme caution and under the supervision of a physician.

Dosage

Locally. Adults and children over 2 years old 1 drop into the affected eye 2-3 times a day.

Use of the drug for more than 4 days should only be done under the supervision of a physician.

1. Break off 1 ampoule from the strip, and put the remaining ampoules back into the foil bag.

2. Then open the ampoule by unscrewing the upper, unfilled part of the ampoule.

3. Instill the drug into the conjunctival sac, lightly pressing on the filled part of the ampoule.

Side effects

Very often (>1/10), often (>1/100, 1/10), infrequently (>1/1000,<1/100), редко (>1/10 000, <1/1000) и очень редко (<1/10 000).

Uncommon: reactive hyperemia, burning sensation, dry mucous membrane, systemic disorders (for example, palpitations, headache, tremor, weakness, sweating and increased blood pressure). Blurred vision, irritation of the conjunctiva, or rarely, mydriasis may occur. In addition, systemic adrenomimetic effects are infrequently observed.

In some cases After long-term use of tetrizoline, keratinization of the epithelium (xerosis) of the conjunctiva with occlusion of the lacrimal openings and epiphora has been reported.

Overdose

Symptoms

Excessive systemic absorption of alpha-adrenomimetic imidazole derivatives can lead to CNS depression, manifested by drowsiness, low body temperature, bradycardia, shock-like hypotension, apnea and coma.

Symptoms of overdose are mydriasis, nausea, cyanosis, fever, convulsions, tachycardia, arrhythmia, cardiac arrest, increased blood pressure, pulmonary edema, respiratory dysfunction, and mental disorders.

The risk of overdose symptoms associated with drug absorption is especially high in newborns and young children when drops are swallowed, which may result in central nervous system disorders, as well as respiratory depression and collapse.

The toxic dose of tetrizoline is 0.01 mg/kg body weight.

Treatment

If any symptoms of overdose appear, consult a doctor immediately.

In case of overdose, activated charcoal, gastric lavage, oxygen inhalation, antipyretics and anticonvulsants are prescribed. To lower blood pressure, use phentolamine 5 mg in saline slowly intravenously or 100 mg orally. Vasopressor agents are contraindicated in patients with low blood pressure. In case of symptoms caused by blockade of m-cholinergic receptors, the antidote physostigmine is used.

Drug interactions

The drug Vizin Classic should not be used simultaneously with MAO inhibitors such as tranylcypromine, tricyclic antidepressants, or drugs that increase blood pressure. Combination therapy with these groups of drugs can lead to increased vasoconstrictor effects and increased blood pressure.

Special instructions

Before instilling the drug, it is necessary to remove contact lenses and install them 15 minutes after instillation. It is necessary to avoid direct contact of the drug with soft contact lenses due to possible disruption of their transparency.

It is possible to develop reactive hyperemia of the conjunctiva and nasal mucosa (medicinal rhinitis) due to improper use of the drug.

The patient should be informed that if intense pain in the eyes, severe acute or unilateral redness of the eyes, headache, blurred vision, spots before the eyes or double vision occurs, it is necessary to immediately consult a doctor.

If irritation or hyperemia is associated with serious ocular diseases, such as infection, foreign body or chemical trauma to the cornea, consultation with an ophthalmologist is necessary.

The patient should be informed that if the medicine has become unusable or has expired, it should not be thrown into wastewater or on the street. The medicine must be placed in a bag and placed in the trash. These measures will help protect the environment.

Impact on the ability to drive vehicles and operate machinery

In rare cases, blurred vision may occur after using eye drops, which may affect your ability to drive or operate machinery.

Pregnancy and lactation

There are no data on the penetration of the drug through the placenta and into breast milk. Considering the possibility of developing systemic side effects, the drug can be used during pregnancy and breastfeeding only if, in the opinion of the doctor, the expected benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus and child.

Use in childhood

Contraindicated for use in children under 2 years of age.

Long-term use and overdose of the drug should be avoided, especially in children.

Conditions for dispensing from pharmacies

The drug is approved for use as an over-the-counter product.

Storage conditions and periods

The drug should be stored out of the reach of children at a temperature not exceeding 25°C. Shelf life - 2 years.

After a single use of the drug Vizin Classic, the unused contents of the ampoule must be disposed of.

Groups of adrenergic agonists that have anti-edematous and antispasmodic effects.

The drops contain active substances that begin to act within the first minutes after instillation.

The product is applied topically and used as a vasoconstrictor, which also relieves swelling and inflammation.

Attention! The only negative feature of the drug is its ability to cause addiction with long-term use, and in such cases side effects may occur.

Before the introduction of the drug Visine Alergy, which is used to relieve allergic symptoms, this medicine was simply called Visine.

Currently, for convenience, the drops are given the commercial name “Visin Classic”.

Pharmacological action

The main active ingredient of the drops, tetrizoline hydrochloride, has a stimulating effect on alpha-adrenergic receptors, resulting in redness disappears and irritation disappears, and eye swelling decreases.

The effect after instillation lasts up to eight hours, after which repeated instillation of the drug is required.

Vizin Classic: instructions for use

Following the instructions for use, Visine classic can be used in children from the age of six years, drops are instilled two to four times a day, 1-2 drops.

If it is necessary to use classic Visine for up to six years, treatment with these drops should only be carried out under the supervision of an ophthalmologist, and instillation is prohibited for children under two years of age.

Considering that this drug quickly becomes addictive, as a result of which the effect of its use is lost and side effects may occur, It is unacceptable to use the drug for more than four days in a row, and if necessary, continue treatment, you must take a break for at least one or two days.

Indications for use

The main purpose of the drops is elimination of symptoms characteristic of different types of allergies, including hay fever and allergic reactions due to constant wearing of contact optics.

Reference! Visine classic also eliminates itching, burning, and irritation of the organs of vision when cosmetics, smoke or chlorinated water get into them.

The product also neutralizes the negative effects of prolonged exposure to sunlight on the eyes.

Interaction with other drugs

Should exercise caution when used concomitantly with medications containing atropine and having anticholinergic activity: in this case, an increase in their effect may be observed.

In all other cases, the combined use of Visine and other drops is permissible, but the interval between their instillations should be at least 10 minutes.

Side effects and contraindications

The official instructions for use of Visine classic mention the following contraindications:

  • angle-closure glaucoma;
  • increased sensitivity of eye tissue to substances included in the drug;
  • increased intraocular pressure;
  • arterial hypertension;
  • hyperthyroidism;
  • dystrophic processes developing in the cornea;
  • hyperthyroidism;
  • pheochromocytoma.

For diabetes mellitus and coronary heart disease, monitoring by the attending physician who prescribes Visine is required.

Side effects may include itching, burning, and mild blurred vision. and minor allergic reactions (such signs appear immediately after instillation and pass quickly).

Visine during pregnancy and lactation

Visine classic is prescribed to pregnant women and nursing mothers, but only in cases if the positive result expected from the use of drops is justified, and the risk of negative effects on the body of the fetus or child will be minimal.

Composition and features of release from pharmacies

In addition to the active ingredient tetrizoline hydrochloride, the drops also contain The following additional components are included:

  • edetate disodium as an antioxidant;
  • boric acid(has an antiseptic effect);
  • purified water;
  • sodium chloride (helps stabilize the balance of fluids in eye tissue cells and relieves symptoms of intoxication).

Reference! There are two forms of classic Visine: ampoules and a standard dropper bottle.

Ampoules are designed for one-time use for two eyes.

The bottles have a volume of 15 milliliters, and with a standard course of treatment this capacity will last for about a month.

Storage conditions and periods

Storage conditions for classic Vizine are standard, as is the case with most ophthalmic drugs: an unopened bottle can be kept at temperatures up to +30 degrees for three years.

Content printed container must be used in the next thirty days, and the remaining drops unused during this time must be disposed of.

Analogs

Due to the fact that the drug cannot be used for some contraindications, it is sometimes replaced with analogues, but you cannot choose them yourself: before that You should definitely consult your doctor.

Such analogues in action (and sometimes in composition) include:

  1. Octilia. Vasoconstrictor drops of the alpha-adrenergic agonist class, which are used as additional remedy for treatment of conjunctivitis. Within eight hours after instillation, the active components of octilia prevent swelling from spreading and relieve irritation and itching.
  2. Visoptician. The product is effective for both typical and allergic conjunctivitis, and already from the first minutes after instillation it relieves swelling and eliminates all signs of irritation of the visual organs. Also visoptician prescribed for chemical burns and injuries of the eyeball, accelerating the regeneration processes of tissues of the organs of vision.
  3. Tizin. Vasoconstrictor drug, which, depending on the anatomical and physiological characteristics of the eye, can last from four to eight hours, after which repeated instillation is required.
  4. Montevisin. Topical ophthalmic drops that are used when swelling occurs and irritation of the organs of vision, regardless of the reasons that caused such symptoms.
  5. Naphazoline. Another type of drops from the alpha-adrenergic agonist group, which among its analogues has an increased duration of action. The drug begins to have vasoconstrictor effect from the first minute after instillation.
  6. Spersallerg. The drug has vasoconstrictor effect and is a narrow-purpose remedy, helping exclusively with the manifestation of allergic reactions. It is not used as a therapeutic agent.

Vizin Classic: price in Russia

Classic Visine is produced by several pharmaceutical companies, so its price can vary greatly in different pharmacy chains and in different regions.

The lowest price in pharmacies recorded in peripheral regions is 130 rubles per bottle, the highest figure is 430 rubles. In most pharmacies, Vizine classic can be found at a price in the range of 300-350 rubles.

The drug is not intended for long-term use, and there is no time for the body to adapt to it: if classic Visine does not work on the first day, there is no point in using it in the future.

Instillation cannot be carried out for longer than four days., since the drug is not eliminated from the body very quickly, accumulating in tissues and entering the blood, and as a result of prolonging the course of treatment overdose may occur.

It shows up in such signs as:

  • decrease and increase in blood pressure;
  • hypothermia (decrease in overall body temperature);
  • rapid heartbeat;
  • confusion;
  • violation of respiratory processes;
  • increased sweating;
